For a long time, I had a go to all-purpose store bought cleaning solution that I would grab for every little cleaning task in my house. I would wipe down my kitchen counters with it. I would clean the downstairs and upstairs bathrooms, the walls and every little sticky spot that would pop up.
When I finally came to my senses about the amount of chemicals that I was spraying around my house and pets, I knew that I needed a different kind of solution, a kinder solution. I needed something that wouldn’t make me have to evacuate the room when I was done cleaning. My all natural essential oil cleaner is just as effective if not more effective then cleaners contacting harsh chemicals. While I like to have a clean house, I don’t want to spray unhealthy chemicals that could be toxic to my family and our pets. What I do use works well and contains all natural healthy components. I have found that my essential oil all purpose cleaner does just this.
The ingredients are simple and once you know the cleaning capabilities of other natural ingredients, you won’t want to go back to that store bought chemical mixture again.
Ingredients
- 16-ounce glass spray bottle
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1 3/4 cups water
- 30 drops of your favorite essential oil or blend
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
Recommended Essential Oils:
- 15 drops Lavender and 15 drops Lemon
- 10 drops Eucalyptus, 10 drops Peppermint and 10 drops Wild Orange
- 30 drops Protective Blend
- 15 drops Grapefruit and 15 drops Protective Blend
Directions for Use
Add vinegar, baking soda and essential oils to spray bottle. Fill the rest of the spray bottle with water.
Shake thoroughly.
You can use this cleaner for any surface in your home. I would colortest (as always) if you are going to use on fabric. Homes should be clean, but I don’t believe they need to be sterile. Especially if by making your house sterile, you are spraying cleaners that have unknown chemicals that could be toxic for you and your family. Not to mention, making your own cleaner is a rewarding and satisfying experience. The best part? You know exactly what is being used on the surfaces in your home.
